The editors express sincere thanks to those who read and evaluated submissions this year--Jennie Nelson, Gordon Thomas, Lance Olsen, Bob Wrigley, Ron McFarland, Walter Hesford, Stephan Flores, Teo Sipahigil, Cheryl Johnson, Dave Barber. Praise, too, to EVERYONE who afforded their students the honor of being considered for this award--this gesture means a great deal to the nominees, even if their work isn’t selected for inclusion in the anthology. As in past years, submissions were denuded of identifying marks before going to readers, and of course no one evaluated submissions in any category in which s/he had submitted student work. Cathy Myers and Judy Scheel competently handled production and design matters for this volume--thanks to both. The English department deeply appreciates the annual gifts of Mary Banks and her family, as well as other friends of Bill Banks, whose generosity ensures that the winners’ stipends and this anthology continue. |
