Masters of Kathakali

We are very fortunate to have a preeminent group of Kathakali artists visiting our campus April 12-13, 2005.  Their visit will culminate in a public performance on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, in the Admin. Auditorium, UI Campus, at 7:30 p.m.  (Tickets are available at Book People in Moscow, or at the door).

This performance is part of a 25-city North American tour by a renowned group of Kathakali experts, from the 4 great Kathakali schools in Kerala, South India.

U.S. tours of Kathakali only occur once every 5 to 10 years, so this is a rare opportunity.  All proceeds will go to Tsunami Relief efforts in India.  This benefit specifically targets villages in the Pulicat area, 30 miles north of Madras.

The tour is sponsored by ANAMICA.   Association for a North American Mosaic of Indian Classical Arts is a non-profit organization based in Atlanta, GA.  http://www.anamica.org/  They have a wonderful photo gallery http://www.anamica.org/gallery.htm
