Nov 11: Online Course Evaluations

Online evaluations for this course will be open from 11/15 to 12/16.

Please take the time to fill out an evaluation form.  They are important sources of feedback for students’ perceptions of the course.  All the evaluations are confidential.  The following is the procedure for completing the online evaluation.

A. Login to the UI’s Banner Web interface just as you do when registering for classes

https://max.csrv.uidaho.edu/PROD/owa/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin?ret_code=I

B. From here a choice of classes, with the instructor’s name, you are enrolled in will pop up.  Choose a course and instructor and fill out the evaluation.

For more information, visit the informational website at the link below:

Oct 31:
Remember, success on the challenges is not only a matter of completing what is required.  Simple completion of the required assignment is expected and is "average." Average means a "C."  Success is also a matter of how WELL you complete the requirements which involves your choice of website, how you write about it (i.e.  how well you explain its relevance to anthropology and the degree to which you justify its inclusion in the course or the degree to which you convince me to include it), and your creativity. Good luck.

Oct. 27:
I made a few adjustments in the reading schedule concerning Cocktail Waitress.  Chapters 2-3 need to be read by Nov. 11, chapters 4-6 by Nov. 18, and 7-8 by Dec. 2.  Please adjust your reading accordingly.

Oct. 11:
I have made a few more adjustments concerning the challenges. Challenge 5 will be due Oct. 28, challenge 6 will be due Nov. 4, and challenge 7 will be on Nov. 8 or so.  I have switched the requirements of challenge 6 with challenge 7, so 6 is a written challenge and 7 is an in-class quiz. Let me know if you have any questions about these changes.  Enjoy your weekend.

Oct. 7:
I have made some minor adjustments to the challenge schedule.  Challenge 4, in-class quiz, will be during week 8 and challenge 5 will not be due until Oct. 21. Please plan accordingly.

Sept. 11:
I have modified the discussion page. If you click on the discussion button from the main menu, the contents of the discussion will open.  In the frame below the contents, you have the option of posting a new message or searching contents.  Give the page a try.

Sept 3:
I have placed a copy of Guns, Germs, and Steel and a copy of Cocktail Waitress on reserve in the library.  If you would like to use these books via library reserve, simply go to the "Reserve" counter in the library (next to the "circulation" counter in the front of the library) and tell them you would like to look at the books for anth 100 section 1.  They will get you the books and you can look at them for up to two hours.  Let me know if you have any questions about this process.

Aug 30:
I have updated challenge #2 if you want to look ahead.  This will be due on Sept. 20th and we will talk about it in class soon. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.

Aug 27
Challenge #1 is due Sept. 6.  Look on the "challenges" page to find details about #1 and to begin your search and review of appropriate websites.
Review the rest of the challenges listed on the challenge page for an idea of what to expect from future challenges.  These may change from those posted at the current time, but they will be similar to those currently posted.
Also, note that there is a discussion page on the course website.  Feel free to use the page to communicate with other students, pose questions and otherwise engage in anthropology-related dialogue with other students.  All rules of courtesy and professionalism apply to postings on the discussion board.
