This week at a glance -- Week 4

This week you will:

  1. Learn how to use the UI Library’s search engine to find journal articles for your project.
  2. Submit a short memo about articles you can use for your project.

Why learn about the UI Library's search engine?
1. This search engine takes you to indexes that list professional journal articles?
2. These indexes access articles from professional and nationally/internationally recognized sources of information.
3. This will give you "another" tool for finding information.
4. Many of the articles accessed through this search engine are on-line (available through the Web) or if you need to do an inter-library loan, the library will email the article to you.

Why not just use Google or Google Scholar?
●These search engines also work but they do not necessarily take you to professional journals.
● Often it's difficult to determine or judge the usefulness and reliability of information these search engines use.

Note:  this assignment will help you select a project and it will help you focus your project.
