The writing process
As writers we all use a slightly different processes for writing. But to write quickly and efficiently, here are some basic guidelines that I and other writers try to follow.

The writing process consists of three main phases:
  1. Prewriting
  2. Writing
  3. Revising

Prewriting

Step 1 - Know what you want to write.
• see the course introduction
what makes technical writing work

• As possible, work from a list of ideas you want to cover.

Writing

Step 2 - Write.
• Get as many ideas on the page as you can.

Step 3 - Organize.
• Keep your paragraphs short.
• Focus each paragraph on one topic.
• Place the main points first.

Revising

Step 4 - Revise.
• Check punctuation
• spelling
• word choices
• grammar
format issues

Step 5 - Check for readability:
• Sentence lengths
Be verbs
transition words
• lengths of words
