To present equations, use this format:

The pinion was designed with 15 teeth allowing for a reduction of 2.2.  To calculate the gear design we used UTS Program 500 [1:39] in conjunction with the industry’s backlash model equation

where d_p is the diametric pitch, n_teeth is the number of teeth, and d_backlash is the diametric backlash. 

Notes:
1. Give the equation a number if you have a lot of equations (more than three?).
2. Be sure to define all the terms.
3. Cite the source (author, date, page number).
4. To create this equation, I use Word and Microsoft Equation (click on "Tools," click on "Options," and click on the "MS Equation."
