IDAHO STUDENT OF ADDICTION STUDIES (ISAS)
The
Idaho Student of Addiction Studies Certification is granted for ENTRY-LEVEL
chemical dependency counseling within the State of Idaho.
It signifies that they have a certain amount of alcohol and drug
education and are in training.
The Idaho Board of Certification, a member of the International
Certification Reciprocity Consortium, which does not recognize the Idaho
Student of Addiction Studies certification, developed this certification to give
trainees some recognition while they are working toward their CADC
certification. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

College or University transcript showing a passing grade in the following
courses:

Three letters of reference must be provided.
a.
One letter is required from a Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor, with
proof of certification if the CADC is not certified in Idaho.
b.
One letter of character reference from a peer that is familiar with your
work and/or knowledge of the drug/alcohol field.
c.
One letter of reference from your direct supervisor for practicum hours
d. All letters of reference must
be sent directly to the IBADCC
office by the person submitting the letter.
RENEWAL
PROCEDURES 1.
Documentation of 800 hours of work experience annually utilizing the 12
Core Functions working directly with AODA clients, is required unless
enrolled full time in an academic program leading to a degree in the Behavioral
Sciences. Acceptable degrees
include but are not limited to: Sociology,
Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Counseling, and Alcohol programs.
Work experience is defined as supervised work experience, paid or
voluntary.
a. Full or part time work
experience is acceptable.
b. Practicum can be used as part of
the work experience.
c. Attendance
at A.A., N.A., etc. is not applicable toward work experience. 2.
Documentation of thirty (30) hours of continuing education is required
annually.
a. Education must be related to the
knowledge and skills necessary to perform the tasks within each performance domain.
b. A minimum of 22.5
hours must be attained in classroom setting.
Only 25% of all continuing education hours can be met by home study
courses.
c. A maximum of six (6) hours
in-service training is acceptable. 3. The application for ISAS renewal must include copies of all Clinical Supervision documented on the Clinical Supervision Sheet. FEES

Student of Addiction Studies testing will be held twice a year, on the second
Friday of March and September. The test fee is due upon notice of approval to
test. The
following application deadlines must be met in order to be eligible to test for
ISAS. For
