CERTIFIED CLINICAL SUPERVISOR (CCS) ELIGIBILITY
CRITERIA Education and Work Experience
1.
Applicant must be certified as a Certified
Alcohol/Drug Counselor (CADC) for five (5) years. 2.
Applicant must hold a Master's Degree in Health and Human Services or
related fields.
Applicant must submit verification of the degree. 3.
Verification of two (2) years clinical supervisory experience in the
alcohol/drug field.
These two (2) years may be included in the counseling experience as a
CADC. 4.
Verification of 30 hours didactic training in clinical supervision.
All applicants, regardless of educational level, must have 30 hours
clinical supervision specific training. Letters
of Reference Submission of three (3) references from individuals familiar with your work as a clinical supervisor, one of whom must have supervised your clinical supervision. a.
All letters of reference must be sent directly to IBADCC
office by the person evaluating the applicant. b.
Letters of reference must be received by application deadline date. Testing Applicants
are required to pass the ICRC/AODA Clinical Supervision Exam. The
exam will be given the SECOND Friday of March and September of each year in
each region of the state. Applicants may be asked to test in another region if
necessary. A
completed application must be submitted by the following deadlines in order to
be eligible to test for the written CCS exam. For
March Testing:

Documentation
of 15 hours continuing education is required every 2 years. 1.
Education must be related to the knowledge and skills necessary to
perform the tasks within the Performance
Domains. 2.
Must maintain a current CADC certification each year. 3.
Education presented by the candidate does not count toward continuing

Education Documentation
of 270 hours of education specifically related to the ICRC
Performance Domains* (Assessment, Counseling, Case Management, Education,
and Professional Responsibility) is required. No less than 30 hours in each
domain.
Education is defined as formal classroom education (workshops, seminars,
institutions, in-service [limited], and college/university courses). A.
Documentation of a high school diploma or an equivalent.
(Documentation is not required if applicant is documenting credit for
college courses or a degree.) B.
A maximum of 30 hours in-service is acceptable. C.
One credit hour is equal to 15 clock hours. D. All education and college/university courses MUST BE documented with an OFFICIAL college transcript or certificate of achievement. E.
Practicum hours cannot be counted as education but can be counted as education
experience. Applicants
must complete and document six (6) hours of training in Professional Ethics.
The six (6) hours must include the following areas:
Federal and State Laws, Client welfare as a primary concern, professional
competence supervision/development, financial issues, personal wellness, and
relationships to professionals and institutions. Letters
of Reference Three
(3) letters of reference which are directly related to the applicant's
professional knowledge and skills are required (an evaluation form will be
furnished). A.
One (1) letter must be
submitted by the applicant's supervisor. B.
All letters
of reference must be sent directly to the IBADCC
office by the person evaluating the applicant. Testing Applicants
are required to pass the ICRC/AODA Substance Abuse Exam (written) and the CPM
Oral Exam. The written exam will be
given the SECOND Friday of March and September of each year in each region of
the state. Applicants may be asked to test in another region if necessary.
The CPM Oral Exam is given
twice yearly in June and October and is usually held in Boise, ID. Applicants
must pass the written exam before they are eligible to take the oral. A list of
reading material and study guide from which to prepare for the test is included
in the Application/Manual. A

be eligible to test for the written CADC exam. For

Procedures Documentation
of 20 hours of continuing education is required annually. 1.
Education must be related to the knowledge and skills necessary to
perform the tasks within the Performance
Domains*. 2.
A minimum of 15 hours MUST be obtained in a classroom setting (e.g.,
workshops, seminars, academic studies, etc.). 3.
Only 25% of all continuing education credits can be met by taking home
study courses. 4.
A maximum of five (5) hours in-service training is acceptable. 5.
Education presented by the candidate does not count toward continuing
education hours.
Residency
As
an ICRC member board, Idaho subscribes to the residency requirement of ICRC.
If a counselor lives or works in an ICRC state, they must
certify in that state.
If a counselor lives or works in a non-ICRC state, that counselor is
